Brentwood, Tenn. — Thiel Audio will go to International CES with its second new speaker under new ownership.
The $5,798/pair TT1 three-way floorstanding speaker is the first new floorstanding speaker from the company since its late-2012 purchase by a Nashville-based private-equity firm.
It will join the $3,498/pair TMN-3 two-way bookshelf, which was launched at CES 2014 but delayed until the first quarter of 2015 to ship alongside the TT1.
The two speakers are the first in the company’s new 3rd Avenue Collection, named after the iconic Nashville street where Thiel’s operations center is located.
The collection will include additional floorstanding models and at least one subwoofer to be unveiled later in 2015. The speakers are said to be suited for stereo and home-theater use, the company said.
The TT1 features four drivers, multi-order crossover network, and braced, vented MDF enclosure with elliptical side panels made with proprietary tooling. The rigid baffle and midrange mounting architecture optimize back waves to deliver “unusually flat response and overall clarity,” the company said.
The TT1 is the first Thiel speaker to be assembled in the company’s new Nashville Operations Center, and it “represents the highest level of performance that enthusiasts have come to expect from Thiel,” said CEO John Wittman. It also represents “an innovative approach to design and manufacturing that is in line with our long term vision for this iconic brand,” he said.
The TT1 is available in premium rosewood and walnut veneers as well as white and black gloss finishes.
Thiel will exhibit in the Venetian Towers Suites 30-123 and 30-125.
