San Diego – Three new portable Bluetooth speakers from Sony include the company’s first two with proprietary LDAC technology to stream “near high-resolution audio” over Bluetooth from the company’s $1,199 high-res NW-ZX2 Walkman portable music player.
LDAC is also incorporated in $399 Sony Bluetooth headphones and select soundbars and A/V receivers.
The two Bluetooth speakers with LDAC are the $129 SRS-X33 and $179 SRS-X55. A third new speaker is the $69 SRS-X11. The $69 and $129 models are available in multiple colors.
The new models, which began shipping, are also said to be smaller in size than their predecessors yet deliver higher output. All three new models also feature NFC and hands-free speakerphone as in previous models.
Among the three new speakers, the SRS-X55 and SRS-X33 feature Sony’s DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) technology, which improves the sound quality of compressed music, and ClearAudio+, which improves bass and high-frequency response.
The $179 SRS-X55 features built-in subwoofer, dual passive radiators, 30-watt output, 10-hour battery life, and USB (5 volts, 1.5 amperes) to charge phones and tablets.
The $129 SRS-X33 features two full-range drivers, dual passive radiators, 20-watt output, and 12-hour battery. It comes in four colors.
The smallest of the three is the $69 SRS-X11 with 10-watt output, dual passive radiators, and ability to pair two to double output or create a left-right stereo pair. It features 12-hour battery and comes in five colors.
