Pickering, Ontario – PSB Speakers added to its Imagine series of passive in-room speakers to include four Imagine X models priced up to $649 each.
Imagine and Imagine X are promoted as high-performance high-value speakers. Imagine X borrows design technologies from PSB’s flagship models.
The slim Imagine X models, all in simulated black ash finish, are the Imagine X2T tower at a suggested $649 each, the Imagine X1T tower at $449 each, one Imagine XB bookshelf monitor at $499 per pair, and the Imagine XC center channel at $399 each). All are shipping.
Imagine series models, priced below the flagship Synchrony series, consist of nine SKUs priced up to $1,749 each for the Imagine T2 tower.
All new Imagine X models feature custom-designed drivers using technology from PSB flagships such as titanium-dome tweeters, Ferrofluid and neodymium magnets, clay/ceramic-reinforced polypropylene cones, slim profiles with compact footprints, and the ability to sonically integrate with Imagine speakers.
The $649 Imagine X2T tower, which borrows design elements from the Imagine T2, is a three-way, dual-chamber, dual front-ported speaker with 1-inch titanium dome tweeter, two 6.5-inch woofers, and a discrete 5.25-inch self-contained midrange driver, which doesn’t appear in in other Imagine speakers.
The injection-molded poly-filled carbon-fiber midrange features an unusual shape and filleted surround to optimize voice reproduction, the company said. Each woofer sits in its own individual chamber, and their placement minimizes the negative effects of primary “floor bounce” reflections to deliver more accurate bass, PSB said.
The $449 X1T slim floorstander is promoted as delivering wide bandwidth and high SPLs despite its small size. The dual-woofer two-and-a-half way design features 5.25-inch woofers and a 1-inch titanium-dome tweeter. The woofers’ cone materials were developed for optimal control to enable a simpler more cost-effective crossover design, the company said.
The compact $449/pair Imagine XB features single 5.25-inch woofer and 1-inch titanium tweeter. It shares the injection-molded, clay/ceramic-filled polypropylene woofer designs of the Imagine X towers and includes rear-facing port.
The $399 Imagine XC center channel is a two-way dual-woofer horizontal speaker with a pair of 5.25-inch woofers flanking a 1-inch titanium dome tweeter. Its cosmetic design and compact size is said to complement flat TVs.
