Englewood Cliffs, N.J. – LG Electronics announced the pricing of its Music Flow Wi-Fi multiroom-audio speakers and soundbars and announced the addition of Google Cast to the products.
Shipments are underway for all products but one speaker.
The products are the company’s first wireless multiroom-audio products in the U.S. They were introduced at International CES and are already available at such retailers as Amazon, HH Gregg, Best Buy and the Google Play store.
The Wi-Fi mesh-network speakers are the $179 30-watt H3, portable $199 20-watt H4 (shipping in May with Bluetooth), $279 40-watt H5, and $379 70-watt H7. The Music Flow-equipped soundbars are the $499 LAS751M, $599 LAS851M, and $999 LAS950M.
All of the speakers can be used as surround speakers in a home theater incorporating a Music Flow soundbar.
Music can be distributed to multiple Music Flow devices throughout the house via LG’s Music Flow app running on Android, iOS and Chromebook mobile devices. Distributed content can reside on the mobile device or a networked computer.
With Google Cast, select Cast-enabled music-streaming apps on Android and iOS mobile devices, as well as on Windows and Mac laptops and Chromebooks, “cast” their content to Music Flow devices. The devices stream the content direct from the cloud so that playback isn’t interrupted by incoming phone calls and phone notifications.
Cast-enabled apps include Google Play Music, Pandora, Songza, TuneIn, iHeartRadio and Rdio, and others.
LG’s Music Flow devices also incorporate additional streaming services such as Deezer and Spotify Connect, which like Google Cast lets consumers use their mobile device as a remote and stream content to the Music Flow devices direct from the cloud.
LG Music Flow will be among the first devices in the market to feature Google Cast, said David Vanderwaal, LG Electronics USA marketing VP.
