LG Brings Curves To Soundbar

Englewood Cliffs, N.J. – Curves are coming to an LG soundbar for the first time with the October availability of a $699 model available in select retailers.

The wall-mountable soundbar will complement the curves of a quartet of curved-screen OLED TVs that LG offers, including three 4K Ultra HD models from a suggested $5,499 to $11,999.

The Wi-Fi-equipped LAS855M Music Flow sound bar incorporates LG’s Music Flow wireless-multizone-audio technology, which is already available in four Wi-Fi speakers from $179 to $379 and in three soundbars at $499, $599, and $999.

Music Flow supports wireless distribution of 192kHz/24-bit music stored on smartphones, tablets, computers, and NAS drives over a Wi-Fi-based 2.4GHz/5GHz wireless mesh network. The system is controlled from an Android or iOS app on a mobile device. The soundbar also features Google Cast, enabling users to stream music from Cast-enabled streaming apps to Music Flow speakers throughout the house from Android and iOS phones and tablets, Macs, Windows laptops, and Chromebooks. Cast-enabled streaming apps include Google Play Music, Pandora, Songza, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, Rdio, and others.

Like other Music Flow soundbars, the LAS855M can be used with any pair of Music Flow speakers to create a home theater system in which the speakers deliver discrete surround effects.

Other features include stereo Bluetooth and i-Sound mode, which detects the type of content playing and automatically tailors audio output for sports, movies or music. The bar also features 4.1-channel 360-watt speakers system with wireless subwoofer, HDMI pass through, and compatibility with TV remotes from eight manufacturers, letting consumers control basic functions such as volume and on/off.

Samsung offers as quartet of curved soundbars, three of which incorporate its wireless multi-zone-audio technology.
