Indianapolis — The first TV-speaker base from Klipsch’s Energy brand launches today through Amazon at a suggested $399.
The 2.1-channel, three-way Energy Power Base will be ship in one to two months from Amazon, Amazon’s website shows. The system will be available from other Energy retailers in October, the company said.
The speaker system connects to a TV’s audio outputs via digital optical cable or stereo analog outputs. It features Bluetooth, Dolby Digital 5.1 decoding, balanced voicing for music playback, and virtual surround to expand the front stage and deliver some sounds to the left and right of the listening position, a spokesman said.
The 160-watt peak speaker system measures 4 inches by 25 inches by 14.1 inches and packs two 0.78-inch aluminum-dome tweeters, two 3-inch injection-molded-graphite midranges, and two 3×5-inch bass-reflex woofers that fire through a pair of front ports. The speaker system uses the same tweeters as the $599-suggested Take Classic 5.1 speaker system.
It lacks nearfield communications (NFC) technology and doesn’t stream AAC or AptX over Bluetooth.
Although it comes with its own remote, the speaker system also learns the volume and mute functions of a TV’s remote.
Frequency response ranges from 65Hz to 20kHz +/-3dB.
