Bose Upgrades Bluetooth Speaker

Framingham, Mass – Bose plans June 21 availability of its SoundLink Mini Bluetooth II speaker, adding more power and new features compared to its predecessor while maintaining the same size and $199 price point.

The new model adds hands-free speakerphone, extends battery life to 10 hours from 7, adds ability to connect two Bluetooth devices simultaneously, and adds voice prompts for easier pairing. The additional output wasn’t specified.

Like its predecessor, the new model measures 2 by 7.1 by 2.3 inches and still comes with anodized aluminum housing to resist scratches and fingerprints. A charging cradle lets the speaker play music while charging. Also new: charging from most USB power sources.

The Mini II joins the top-end $299 SoundLink Bluetooth speaker III and the $129 SoundLink Color Bluetooth speaker.

Other features include storage of the eight most recently used Bluetooth devices in memory to eliminate the need to pair a device again.

The SoundLink Mini speaker II comes in Carbon and Pearl colors, with optional $24.95 soft covers in five colors.

The products will be available through Bose stores, Bose.com, a toll-free number, and select authorized dealers.
