Acoustic Research Debuts Women-Targeted Line

New York — Acoustic Research is readying a new line of CE accessories targeted toward women, known as AR For Her. 

The first product in the line will be a portable Bluetooth speaker shaped like a clutch with leather details and a face meant to mimic fabric. It will come in several designs: black or white quilted, white and pink polka-dot, blue or red studded, and leopard print. Retailers will also be able to choose customized colors, designs and patterns, the company said.

Acoustic Research is a Voxx International brand.

David Geise, president of Voxx Accessories, said in a statement: “We created AR For Her so that women looking to express their tech-savvy style can go beyond the fashionable smartphone case, and opt for attractive yet functional items made especially for her.”

The speaker, which measures 9.8 inches by 1.9 inches by 5.5 inches and weighs 1.45 pounds, features two 2-inch drivers and passive bass radiator. Frequency response is 20Hz to 20kHz.

Other details include a built-in mic for speakerphone capability, removable carry strap, 3.5mm input, and onboard track and volume controls. The built-in battery provides up to eight hours of play time, according to the company.

The speaker will be available in spring 2014 for $79.99 suggested retail. More accessories will be added to the AR For Her line down the road, but further details weren’t available at press time.
