Culver City, Calif. - Crackle, owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment, launched an Android smartphone app that lets users stream full-length Sony movies, TV shows and original Crackle short-form series over 3G and Wi-Fi networks.

Crackle already streams such content to PCs and, via Wi-Fi, to PlayStation Portables, Sony Walkman products, the iPod Touch, and the iPhone.

Crackle's Android app, available as a free download, offers free access to Crackle's original programming and minisodes, which are TV episodes condensed to a few minutes in duration. A paid-subscription premium service lets users access the full-length TV shows and movies from Columbia Pictures, Tri-Star, Screen Gems, and Sony Pictures Classics. The premium service costs $4.99 a month, with lower price three- and six-month options available.
