T-Mobile added six more music-streaming services to its Music Freedom program and 10 more video-streaming services to its Binge On program.
A total of 42 music services can now be streamed by T-Mobile subscribers without using up data in the subscriber’s high-speed data bucket. And 62 video-streaming services can now be streamed without the data being applied to the subscriber’s high-speed data caps.
The new music-streaming services are Amazon Music, Chilltrax, ESPN Radio, OHIO.FM, PreDanz and Uforia. The new video services are Dailymotion, EPIX, OVGuide, OWNZONES, Viki, YipTV, 120 Sports and Viacom Networks’ Nickelodeon, Spike and TV Land.
Music Freedom was introduced in June 2014 with seven services and expanded to 44 in December 2015, but seven of those services went out of business since December, and one has been temporarily removed for technical reasons, a T-Mobile spokesperson told TWICE. Current services are listed here.
Binge On launched in November with only 24 video-streaming providers, and in March of this year, T-Mobile added Google’s YouTube, Google Play Movies and seven other services to bring the total count of participating streaming services to more than 50. Current services are listed here.
Consumers who choose Binge On reduce the resolution of participating streaming services to DVD quality. In return, consumers stream all the video they want from the services without dipping into their LTE data buckets. The optional service also reduces the quality of streaming services not participating in Binge On, enabling subscribers to fill their LTE data buckets with three times more video than before. Video providers, however, can opt to maintain native resolution to Binge On customers if they so choose.
