Sprint Expands Device-Leasing Program

Overland Park, Kan. – Sprint today expanded its device-leasing program to the LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy Note.

The models join the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5S, Samsung Galaxy S5, and Samsung Galaxy S 5 Sport.

New and existing Sprint subscribers and businesses pay $15/month for two years to lease the LG G3 and $25/month to lease the Galaxy Note 4 for two years, excluding taxes and fees. Qualified customers pay nothing up front under the program.

Sprint is the only carrier offering leases for unsubsidized phones, launching the program in late 2014 for the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The leasing program is available only through Sprint-owned stores and Sprint-brand stores operated by retailers.

Under the leasing program, consumers can continue leasing their unsubsidized phone on a month-to-month basis after the original lease expires, purchase the device, or return the device to lease or purchase a different device.

Monthly payments are lower than the payments required under the carrier’s Easy Pay installment-payment plans. Although monthly payments for unsubsidized devices are higher under Easy Pay, at the end of a 24-month term, the customer owns the phone. Sprint Easy Pay customers also get the option to pay an additional monthly fee to obtain an early upgrade.
