As part of its expanded recall of original and replacement Galaxy Note7 phablets, Samsung is offering a total bill credit of $100 to customers who exchange their discontinued phones for another Samsung device.
Those who opt for a different manufacturer, or request a complete refund, will still get a $25 bill credit, the company said.
The credits are in addition to any price differential that customers receive with the exchange.
Samsung described the $100 incentive as “a sign of our appreciation for your patience and loyalty.”
To that, Samsung Electronics America president/COO Tim Baxter also added his thanks to mobile carriers and retailers “for carrying the burden during these challenging times. We are committed to doing everything we can to make this right.”
Samsung said it is conducting the refund and exchange program — and is getting the word out via social media, marketing, and in-store and direct communications — with the approval of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The company halted the production, sale and exchange of the elegant but ill-fated Note7 on Oct. 10 amid reports of fires in replacement phones.
