MVNO Touch Mobile Revises VoIP Prepaid Plans

Waterloo, Ontario – Start-up prepaid MVNO Touch Mobile revised the price plans for its service, adding an unlimited Wi-Fi calling and text plan for $10/month and adding unlimited cellular VoIP calling.

Like before, four cellular VoIP plans offer select buckets of 3G and 4G LTE data, including web browsing and cellular VoIP calls that count against each bucket. Now, however, users get unlimited data at 128kbps speeds after exceeding their 3G/4G data caps, and cellular VoIP calls over cellular data are unlimited, a spokesman explained.

The service, which uses the Sprint network, keeps prices down by defaulting voice calls to Wi-Fi before connecting to the Sprint cellular network. The service uses VoIP over Wi-Fi and over 3G/4G cellular, but it also shifts to circuit-switched 2G if that offers the best voice quality.

Prices include free visual voice mail and the ability for an account holder to check messages from a free Touch Mobile app on Android tablets or by logging onto Touch.com from a computer. The service also includes unlimited Wi-Fi calling and texting from any Wi-Fi network in the world via the user’s Touch Mobile phone or other device.

The Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi/cellular plans service are available on three phones marketed by the company. On those phones, the Wi-Fi calling experience is just like a cellular calling experience, the company said.

The four Wi-Fi/cellular plans are priced at $20, $25, $35 and $50. They offer 200MB, 500MB, 1GB and 2GB of cellular data, respectively, at LTE speeds for VoIP, web browsing and the like. A voice minute counts as 0.3MB against the 3G/4G data buckets, so 600 minutes of cellular VoIP calling would use up 200MB.
