LG Mobile Ties Up With Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Englewood Cliffs, N.J. – LG Electronics MobileComm is teaming up with actor, writer and director Joseph Gordon-Levitt to create short films pieced together from video and audio clips captured by consumers’ smartphones.

For the films, LG will give away 50 smartphones to consumers whose proposed contributions are considered unique by Gordon-Levitt’s Emmy-winning HitRECord production company. HitRECord will create two versions of a short film. One will consist solely of videos captured on the LG phones, and the second will include content captured by LG and non-LG phones.

HitRECord is an online collaborative production company that has created short films, published books, and released records. It has produced two seasons of Hit Record on TV, the company’s take on half-hour variety shows.

The theme of the first film is “in-between moments.” Participants will capture images of what they see while waiting for a bus, walking in a park, waiting on line, walking to work, and the like. People whose contributions appear in the film will get paid, Gordon-Levitt said.

“HitRECord is a community that anyone can join,” said Gordon-Levitt. “If you have something to share, all you need is to go out there and do it.”

Technology is “giving more people the opportunity to share their own, unique stories,” he continued. “They’ll [LG] be supporting us, and our community, by collaborating on new projects and providing the tools we need to make the best art possible.”
