Casio Adds Solar-Powered Pro Tek Activity Watch

Messe Basel, Switzerland — Casio America added to its Pro Tek line of activity watches with the debut of the PRW-3500.

This is the first model in the series to offer 200-meter water resistance. Triple Sensor Version 3 technology includes a direction sensor and pressure sensor for compass and altimeter/barometer readings. The atmospheric sensor includes a pressure trend alarm to keep users informed of any sudden pressure swings.

The solar-powered watch has a battery life of approximately 23 months after a full charge, and that is without further exposure to light. A Power Save feature allows it to power down when not exposed to light for a certain period of time, conserving energy. It will charge in low or fluorescent light, and the LED backlight will automatically illuminate in the dark with a tilt of the wrist.

“As the timepiece landscape evolves, we continuously innovate to bring the most advanced features to our adventure-seeking consumers,” said David Johnson, VP of Casio’s timepiece division. “Thanks to the high level of water protection, the PRW-3500 can be worn with confidence during any number of outdoor activities such as surfing, diving, kayaking and rafting.”

It will be available this spring in three colors: silver bezel with black resin band ($300 suggested retail), orange bezel with orange resin band ($320), and black bezel with titanium band ($450).
