Qingdao, China - The
Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and the China International Consumer
Electronics Show (SINOCES) will hold discussions during the next several months
over CEA's continued co-sponsorship of the annual show here, CEA told TWICE.
The parties are
discussing a multiyear partnership.
SINOCES hasn't yet
officially decided to renew the partnership, which would include the right to
use the International CES name. Last week at a reception before the 11th annual
show, a language interpreter misinterpreted remarks by Zhang Hui, vice mayor of
the city of Qingdao, CEA said. The interpreter indicated that SINOCES planned
to renew CEA's partnership for five years.
The city owns and
organizes the event, which was expected to attract 80,000 people for its
four-day run on July 7-10.
The show is
promoted within China by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of
Machinery and Electronics Products. CEA promotes the show outside China,
licenses the CES name to the event, and usually plays a role in designing
SINOCES conference programs.
Other show
sponsors include multiple China government ministries.
