Sharp Ships SB Series LCD TVs

Sharp has expanded its SB series of entry high-definition LCD TVs with three big-screen models offer full HD 1080p resolution.

Models in the series include the 52-inch LC-52SB55U ($2,299 suggested retail) and the 46-inch LC-46SB54U ($1,699), both of which are shipping now, and the 42-inch LC-42SB45U ($1,399), which ships in September.

All are Full HD 1080p capable and feature glossy piano-black bezel cosmetic styling.

“As the demand for high-definition home entertainment continues to rise, we are creating a wide range of reasonably priced HDTVs that incorporate Sharp’s esteemed picture quality and renowned features,” stated Bruce Tripido, Sharp entertainment products marketing division associate VP. “The large-screen SB series of LCD TVs opens up the high-definition viewing experience to a wider audience, providing an affordable, yet high-quality option for consumers.”

Each model includes Sharp’s Spectral Contrast Engine that is said to produce deep blacks and crisp images. All three models also include a pixel response time of 6ms (6.5ms on the LC-42SB45U) for smooth reproduction of fast-moving action scenes.

The sets are equipped with built-in ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuners and carry a variety of inputs, including four HDMI ports on the LC-52SB55U, two on the LC-46SB54U and three on the LC-42SB45U, as well as two HD component terminals on each.

All models feature a dedicated PC input so the TV can also act as a PC monitor. An OPC power-save function automatically adjusts luminance to room brightness and lighting conditions.
