Ridgefield Park, N.J. - Samsung made a couple of digital imaging product announcements in advance of next week's International CES, including a next-generation NX series mirrorless interchangeable lens camera and a long-zoom point-and-shoot.

The highlight of the new offerings is the NX11, which updates the popular NX10 by adding compatibility with new i-Function lenses, first introduced on the NX100.

The Samsung NX11 will come with an 18-55mm i-Function zoom lens, and Samsung said it will support the NX camera line with two new i-Function lenses, a 20mm pancake lens and 20-50mm zoom.

A "lens priority" mode dial, allows selecting the best shooting settings for the lens.

The camera includes a 3-inch active matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) screen, plus an electronics viewfinder.

A hot shoe on top of the camera supports an external flash, to improve upon the lighting supplied by the pop-up fill flash.

Like other NX series models, the NX 11 employs an APS-C sensor, which is larger than sensors offered in so-called Micro Four Thirds sensor-based mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras.

The camera supports shooting in RAW mode, and will record HD video at up to a 720/30p format.

The 18-55mm lens supplied with the camera has an F/3.5 maximum aperture. The new 20mm pancake lens, meanwhile, affords a bright F/2.8 aperture.

The new digital point-and-shoot (model WB700), meanwhile, offers 14 megapixel resolution, an 18x optical zoom lens with a 24mm ultra wide angle, and a 3-inch LCD monitor.

The camera measures 4.1-by-2.3-by-.98 inches, records HD video in 720p using the H.264 compression standard, and its available in black and silver.

Other features include an HDMI output and manual control options.
