Seoul, South Korea — Samsung Electronics reported it has increased the data rate for its DDR4 graphics memory by about 66 percent.

The new memory has a 4GBps data transfer speed, up from the 2.4GBps delivered by the current crop of memory modules. The new memory is built using 80-nanometer production technology, and Samsung is expected to start sample production this month.
