Seattle, Wash. - Industry veteran Frank Sadowski has left leading CE e-tailer 800.com for the top electronics post at Internet leviathan Amazon.com.
Sadowski, formerly senior VP/merchandising for Portland, Ore.-based 800.com, became Amazon's VP/CE merchandising on Monday, with responsibility for consumer electronics and computers. He succeeds Carl Gish, who left the company in October, and reports to Steve Frazier, the former managing director of Amazon.co.uk who was recently named VP/hardlines.
800.com has not yet named a successor.
Sadowski, who began his CE retail career with Silo Inc. in Philadelphia and later served with Sun Television and Appliance in Columbus, Ohio, joined 800.com in 1999.
CE represents Amazon's fastest growing category and is second only behind books in sales.
