Palo Alto, Calif. – Hewlett-Packard has extended its mobile photo printing service to Walgreens, allowing customers to order prints from their mobile iOS devices for pickup at the chain’s more than 8,000 drugstores nationwide.

The deal brings the number of HP public print locations to some 30,000 sites across the globe.

iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch users can order prints of their photos via a free HP ePrint Service app, and pick them up from a local Walgreens in as little as an hour.

“Providing HP ePrint users with access to more than 8,000 Walgreens locations makes their printing experiences easy and convenient,” said Jasbir Patel, Walgreens’ senior director/general merchandise manager, photo and e-commerce. “HP’s integration of the Walgreens QuickPrints technology gives customers expanded access and provides another level of valuable engagement.”

The mobile printing app had been downloaded more than 6 million times as of last fall, HP said, and use of the platform is doubling every six months. More recently HP enhanced the service with more cloud-based content, including direct integration with Dropbox and Facebook, and plans to introduce app versions for Android and Blackberry.

“As we extend the HP public print location network to include Walgreens, customers and partners will have greater access to convenient and flexible printing solutions as they need it,” said HP VP John Tomesco.
