Staples Helps Amazon Launch Fire TV Stick

Framingham, Mass.Amazon’s new Fire TV Stick is getting additional sales support from a seemingly unlikely ally: Staples.

The office-supply giant said Monday it will start taking pre-orders Wednesday in its stores for the tiny smart-TV adapter. Deliveries begin on Nov. 20.

Further, Staples said it is sweetening the pot by allowing customers to take advantage of its tech trade-in program and use their money back toward the purchase of a new Amazon Fire TV Stick.

The Fire TV Stick isn’t the first product that brought the two retail giants together.

Staples was one of only a few national chains to put Amazon fulfillment lockers in its stores. That program has since been dropped, but Staples continues to sell Amazon Kindle products through in-store end-cap displays.

Staples said that by carrying the Fire TV Stick in physical stores, it gives consumers easy access to see the product first-hand before purchasing.
