Sony To Debut 65-Inch Curved LED TV At Video & Audio Center

Santa Monica, Calif. — Sony Electronics will introduce its 65-inch curved-screen LED HDTV at Video & Audio Center, here, on Tuesday.

Described as the world’s first 65-inch curved-screen LED HDTV in a press advisory, the sets will be available for purchase at the store.

Sony will also introduce 4K home-theater projectors, and a high-res audio line that can play back virtually any file format and deliver audiophile sound, the retailer said.

The event will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a special factory presentation beginning at 5 p.m. featuring Sony Electronics executives and Video & Audio Center staff. The Sony 2013 KDL-65S990A 65-inch curved LED HDTV will go on sale at 5:30 p.m.

The Sony KDL-65S990A LED HDTV is described as having an “edge-to-edge curved construction [that] is engineered to mirror the curvature of the eye, so that the viewer will perceive a greater sense of the picture’s depth of feel. The curved screen also allows for a wider viewing angle.”

The new curved LED HDTV features Triluminos Display, a color technology unique to Sony, and creates “true, natural shades of colors — just the way directors, cinematographers and producers want viewers to see them,” the company said.

Additionally, the S990A features a four-channel multi-angle live speaker configuration with eight front-facing speakers (six front and two surround) angled in multiple directions for a surround-sound experience said to be superior to a conventional, slim flat-panel TV.

Video & Audio Center has been introducing new technologies for more than 31 years, and “the arrival of the new Sony 2013 KDL-65S990A curved-screen LED HDTV at Video & Audio Center marks another milestone for us and Sony,” said Joseph Akhtarzad, co-owner of the retailer, in a prepared statement.
