Pirch To Alight In New York With Smart Kitchen In Tow

Luxury kitchen, bath and appliance chain Pirch will have some new interactive angles up its sleeve when it lands in the Big Apple this May.

The high-touch business, co-founded eight years ago by former homebuilder supplier Jeffrey Sears, has made a splash — literally — within the appliance, decorator and retail channels with its nine experiential showrooms featuring live vignettes, full-time chefs, working showerheads, and demo commodes in restrooms.

Now Sears and partner Jim Stuart are bringing their super-premium concept to Manhattan’s SoHo district, where they will open a three-story iteration in a landmark building on May 21.

“We are graced with a beautiful location at the corner of Broome and Lafayette,” Sears wrote in a LinkedIn post. “Construction is underway and we could not be more thrilled to become a part of this incredible community!”

Pirch will occupy three floors of a landmark building in SoHo, Sears said.

In addition to the usual unusual amenities, this Pirch outpost will feature a smart kitchen loft powered by Innit, a software startup led by former Unilever CEO Eugenio Minvielle. Innit’s “connected food platform” will link with kitchen appliances to provide nutritional information and recipes for household foodstuffs, and will feature original content from Good Housekeeping.

As part of the partnership, Innit and Good Housekeeping will also co-host a cooking class and demonstration series within the SoHo store’s “Savor Kitchen,” and plans call for the Innit technology to be incorporated into all of Pirch’s current and future locations.

“The introduction of Innit stirs the imagination and shows the promise of tomorrow as our appliances learn to communicate with our food,” Sears said. “The result creates a smart kitchen environment that leads to improvements in sustainability, food quality and healthier living.”

The proof, quite literally, will be in the pudding in May.
