MyerEmco Offshoot Acquires Integrator

Gaithersburg, Md. – MyerConnex, the Washington, D.C.-area installer/integrator born of MyerEmco, is on a growth path.

The company, founded four years ago by former MyerEmco principal Jon Myer, has acquired Aegis Technologies, a 20-year-old Sterling, Va.-based provider of security, A/V and home installation solutions for the residential and commercial markets.

“Aegis gets us back into the security business and adds to our capabilities to do boardrooms, executive suites and other projects in business and commercial environments,” Myer said. “They’ve also been responsible for some of the finest residential audio/video and home automation installations in the mid-Atlantic region.”

Both businesses will continue to operate under their respective brands but will pool resources as needed “to perform more varied jobs of greater scope and size across a larger geographical area,” MyerConnex said.

Its forerunner, the seven-store MyerEmco chain, served the greater Washington market for more than 55 years before succumbing in 2010 to the prolonged recession, shrinking TV margins and a credit squeeze that left it bereft of working capital.

Unlike that business, MyerConnex has no showrooms and instead maintains a field staff of technicians and salespeople that work directly with clients on-site, the company said.
