Karl’s Opens ‘Live’ Prototype Showroom

PARAMUS, N.J. –

Top 40 majap dealer Karl’s Appliance
has opened a new showroom prototype on the
eve of its 70th anniversary that features live products
and fully appointed kitchen vignettes.

The company, which began as a tire dealer in 1941,
is run by Karl’s son and current CEO Dan Schwartz, who caters to a mix of upscale consumers and the
builder and decorator trades.

The Nationwide Marketing Group member opened
the 12,000-square-foot location, its sixth, in a former
Gateway store along heavily trafficked Route 17, a
local shopping mecca. The showroom was designed
and constructed under the auspices of executive VP
John Wilkerson, a Bernie’s and Tops Appliance veteran
who joined the business five years ago, and features
spacious lifestyle vignettes and workstations where
designers can draw up remodeling plans with clients.

“Our customers have plenty of places to buy,” Wilkerson
said, “but they want a better place to shop.”

The vignettes showcase kitchen products from such
premium brands as Dacor, Jenn-Air, Monogram, Sub-
Zero/Wolf, Thermador and Viking, and feature tiles,
countertops and furnishings from local businesses.
Karl’s plans to roll out elements of the prototype to its
other New Jersey locations.

“Winning in retail means being different,” Wilkerson
added. “And if we do our jobs right by treating our customers
courteously and thoughtfully, and by following
up on deliveries, we’ll be dinner conversation.”
