First 4K OLED TV Goes On Sale Thursday

Santa Monica, Calif. — Southern Calif. A/V specialty chain Video & Audio Center will again be the launch pad for another technology first — LG’s 4K Ultra HD OLED TVs — at a product sendoff ceremony Thursday evening.

LG said the chain will use its flagship showroom here to unveil LG’s recently announced 65-inch 4K UHD OLED set.

The store is also advertising that LG’s 77-inch 4K UHD OLED set will be on display.

Seated in the lap of the nation’s content creation capitol, Video & Audio Center has long been selected by manufacturers to debut cutting-edge technologies in the United States. The chain’s regular clientele varies from everyday consumers to elite Hollywood directors, producers and stars in need of the latest and greatest technology.

The Akhtarzad family and spokesman/advisor Tom Campbell have long sought to make the store a national destination point for innovative products and services.

LG is calling the event “The Future of TV Retail Launch.” The $9,999 65-inch LG 4K OLED TV (model 65EC9700) will be available at select stores nationwide later this month.

LG said its 4K OLED sets offer “the ultimate in picture quality,” being the first to combine Ultra HD’s intense detail (four-times the resolution of HDTV) and OLED’s superior contrast and color accuracy.

Video & Audio Center is using the occasion at its 1426 Wilshire Boulevard store as a major sales event for other products as well — offering Black Friday-like doorbuster specials on select items.
