Amazon Sweetens Prime Pot For Gamers

Amazon has upped its (video) game by offering Prime members 20 percent off all new titles.

The newest perk to Amazon’s $99/year Prime loyalty program is limited to physical media, and the games must be either pre-ordered or purchased within two weeks of release to receive the discount.

The move is seen as a response to Best Buy’s Gamers Club Unlocked membership program, which also provides a 20 percent discount for new titles, as well as 10 percent off pre-owned games and a 10 percent bonus for trade-ins. Best Buy dropped the price of a two-year membership from $100 to $30 in March.

The 10 percent incentives are also offered by No. 1 gaming retailer GameStop through its PowerUp Rewards loyalty program.
