Directed Celebrates 30 Years

Vista, Calif. — Directed celebrated its 30th anniversary this week with a visit from its founders and former owners, Rep. Darrell Issa and his wife Katharine.
“This company stays one, two, or three steps ahead of the competition,” Issa said. “That’s what’s so exciting and that’s why I’m optimistic that there can be another 30 years.”
“This company is about innovation, it always has been and it always will be,” Directed president Mike Simmons said. “When we look at how we’re leading this industry into the era of the connected car with innovations like Viper SmartStart, we can proudly say that the ‘new Directed’ will look a lot like the ‘old Directed’ that Darrell and Kathy started — a company that always leads, always innovates, and always relies on the best and brightest to get the job done.”
Directed was founded in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1982 by Issa and his wife Katharine, as a maker of vehicle security products. In 1986, Directed moved to Southern California. Darrell and Kathy Issa sold their interest in Directed in December of 1999 and stepped down from day-to-day operation of the company upon his election to Congress in 2000, according to the company.
Also in attendance at the celebration event was Judy Ritter, Vista’s mayor, and several members of the Vista Chamber of Commerce.
