Epson is going to CEDIA Expo with new 1080p Pro Cinema projectors that deliver up to 6,000 lumens of color and white brightness like previous models. They’re designed for use in rooms with higher levels of ambient light than dedicated home theater rooms.
Three new high-brightness models, priced from $2,499 to $6,999, are designed to compete with flat-panel TVs in open environments but offer much larger image sizes.
Two of the models, the $6,999 6,000-lumen G6970WU and $5,499 5,200-lumen G6570WU, integrate with home-control systems from Crestron, AMX, Extron XTP and Control4.
Both models, which replace current models, also feature HDBaseT ports to receive HD video, audio, network and control commands over a single CAT-5/6 cable running up to 328 feet, eliminating multiple cables and HDMI signal repeaters.
The two models also feature six interchangeable lenses − standard, rear, two middle, and one long-throw – enabling installers to choose the lens best suited for the room. A quick-release lever lets installers quickly change lenses.
The two models and the current $3,099 4,000-lumen Pro Cinema 4855WU are designed for custom installers, offering such features as vertical and horizontal lens shift, centered lens design, arc correction, and Faroudja DCDi Cinema video processing. They also project content from two HD connections, side by side, via a split-screen feature. The three models also come with a ceiling mount and extra lamp.
The new models will be available in October through CEDIA and specialty dealers.
Another new model is the $2,499 4,800-lumen Pro Cinema 1985, which will be available through dealers in November. It doesn’t replace a model and expands the Pro Cinema line.
The 1985 features Wi-Fi-based Miracast and Intel WiDi technology so users can stream video from a smartphone, tablet, or laptop. For an out-of-the-box entertainment experience, the 1985 features built-in speakers and two HDMI ports to connect cable and satellite boxes and gaming consoles. In addition, the Pro Cinema 1985 supports MHL-enabled devices, including Chromecast, Roku4 and Amazon Fire TV Stick. It also connects to Crestron home-control systems.
All of the projectors feature HDMI 1.4.
