Panasonic Goes Wireless With Qi Chargers

Newark, N.J. — Panasonic announced a line of Qi-enabled wireless portable chargers.

Three models are offered, all of which are currently available: the Qi wireless charger QE-TS101AA-W ($59.99) and the Qi portable chargers QE-PL202AA-W ($79.99) and QE-PL102AA-W ($59.99). They can be used with iPhones, Androids and Windows Phones.

A Qi-compatible device can charge wirelessly when placed on a Qi surface, and any device carrying the Qi logo will work with any charging surface with a Qi logo, regardless of manufacturer or brand, said Panasonic.

The PL102AA can charge via Qi, AC or USB and its 2,650 mAh battery provides approximately one full charge to iPhone 4/5.

The PL202AA has the same charging options but it can also charge two devices at the same time. Its 5,300 mAh battery can provide about 2.5 full chargers to an iPhone, including a rapid charge.

The TS101AA can charge any Qi-certified device by placing it on the pad. An LED light indicates the most efficient charge position.

Panasonic is a member of the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), the industry group behind the Qi standard. TWICE managing editor John Laposky recently sat down with John Perzow, market development VP for the WPC, to discuss the future and challenges of wireless charging.
