Parsipanny, N.J. – Flash memory maker PNY will offer a 4GB SDHC memory this month to its e-tail partners and ship the card to brick-and-mortar dealers in the first quarter of next year, the company said.

The company also plans to introduce an 8GB SDHC card in the first quarter.

The 4GB card will offer a Class 4 speed rating, meaning it can transfer data at a minimum of 4MB per second. To enjoy the benefits of the faster transfer speeds, the card can only be used in host devices that accept SDHC Class 4 cards. It will retail for $119.

SDHC (or SD High Capacity) are not backwards compatible with older SD card devices, but can only work with SDHC-enabled devices.
