Fremont, Calif. – Plextor has started shipping the PX-810UF DVD Super Multi Drive.

The unit features USB 2.0 and FireWire interfaces and has a data transfer speed of 480MB per second or the ability to burn a standard DVD in about six minutes, the company said. The drive writes at 18x to single layer DVD +/- and 10x to DVD +/- dual layer media.

Plextor has expanded the software bundle to include Roxio’s Easy Media Creator 9, MvDVD Video Authoring, CinePlayer DVD-video playback and BackUp MyPC.

The drive has a $139 suggested retail price.
