William Glasgow, Former CEA VP, Passes Away

William T. Glasgow Sr., vice president and show manager for the Winter and Summer Consumer Electronics Shows from 1975 to 1984, passed away, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced.

The shows were the predecessors of CES.

In 1984, Glasgow left the Electronic Industries Association, the CEA’s predecessor, to start his own event-management company, W. T. Glasgow, Inc. The company remains in operation.

“William Glasgow was a larger-than-life figure who taught me everything I know about trade shows,” said Gary Shapiro, CEA’s president and CEO. “He was honest, ethical, hard-working, respected, unflappable and always willing to take time to explain things in a patient and thoughtful manner. We send our condolences to the Glasgow family, friends and former colleagues.”
