At Whirlpool, Jim Peters To Succeed Larry Venturelli As CFO

Jim Peters, Whirlpool’s VP, corporate controller and chief accounting officer, has been tapped to succeed Larry Venturelli as chief financial officer on Aug. 1.

In a statement, chairman/CEO Jeff Fettig described Venturelli as “a valued and respected leader” who was instrumental in structuring recent global acquisitions and developing a deep worldwide financial bench.

His successor, a former Ernst & Young manager, joined Whirlpool in 2004 as a director and was named chief financial officer of first the Europe, Middle East and Africa region (2008) and then North America (2010), before assuming his current post.

Fettig said Peters’ “global experience and strong financial acumen position him well for his new role.”

The transition is part of a senior management succession plan that saw the promotion of vice chairman Marc Bitzer to president/COO last fall.

Venturelli, a 15-year veteran of Whirlpool, will formally retire early next year, after which he plans to serve on outside boards and spend more time with his family, Fettig said.
