Sioux City, Iowa — Vance Pflanz, 75, president of Pflanz Electronics, died Thursday, March 27, at a local nursing home.

BrandSource reported just before its March 16-19 convention in Orlando, Fla., that Pflanz suffered a stroke and released an “appreciation” in which the retailer is described as “a dedicated and loyal member who has consistently gone above and beyond expectations to serve his industry as well as his community.”

During the convention, the group’s consumer electronics division, ProSource, named Pflanz to its Hall of Fame. His son, Scott Pflanz, accepted the award for his father, who did not attend the event.

Pflanz, an active member of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and a BrandSource board member, was a fixture at industry events over the years.

In a statement when BrandSource issued its tribute, Bob Lawrence, CEO of the group, said, “Vance is a remarkable individual with a unique combination of attributes. He’s exceptionally smart, highly skilled at marketing, well-liked by his customers and colleagues, and he’s fearless when it comes to embracing change. That’s rare. Vance has made major contributions to our members and to the industry. We salute him.”

The funeral will be held at Meyer Brothers Funeral Home at 2330 Stone Park Blvd, Sioux City IA 51104. Visitation is Monday, March 31, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. The service will be on Tuesday, April 1, at 10:30 a.m. Lunch follows at Wesley United Methodist Church.
