Milan — V-Moda has named Karl Detken as interactive media VP.

Detken spent the past 18 years at Pioneer, where he was in charge of marketing, product development and artist relations.

“As we continue to grow our domestic market and especially as we embark on our global initiatives, we look forward to Karl’s contribution to our marketing and product development,” Val Kolton, V-Moda’s founder and chief visionary officer, said in a statement.

Detken added: “Having been with a market leader in Pro Audio for 18 years, I didn’t think that any manufacturer would be able to tempt me to get back into the industry. However, I was proven wrong when the owner of V-Moda approached me and demonstrated the award-winning M-100 headphones and Vamp portable headphone amplifier and DAC. To put it simply, I was blown away by the sound quality, intricate craftsmanship and attention to detail.  I knew that I was standing in front of the company where I’d be spending my next 18 years. I look forward to helping to develop and market the next world standard in audio technology.”

Detken will be based out of the company’s Hollywood, Calif., office but will spend substantial time in Milan, Italy, expanding V-Moda’s European presence, a spokesman said.
