Throgmartin Heading Bike Chain

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.  – Former h.h.gregg executive VP/COO Gregg Throgmartin has assumed the helm of BikeStreet, a specialty bicycle chain, as CEO.

The son of h.h.gregg’s late chairman Jerry Throgmartin and scion of the founding Gregg and Throgmartin families officially left the company yesterday for his new post.

In a statement, Throgmartin said he is an investor in BikeStreet and has “been watching the growth of the company since they launched.  Now I look forward to having a direct role in it.”

He succeeds founder Pat Patregnani, who remains chairman, and who has worked with Throgmartin for years in his other role as CEO of h.h.gregg’s ad agency Zimmerman Advertising.

The bike chain says it plans to acquire or open nearly 1,000 shops nationwide over the next seven years.

h.h.gregg’s board said it will begin a search for a new COO and that other operations officers will pick up Throgmartin’s duties on an interim basis.
