Target Takes A Bite From Apple With New Cook Hire

Target has brought on former Apple exec Ben Cook as global logistics, inventory allocation and replenishment senior VP.

Cook, who was most recently Apple’s logistics and supply-chain delivery director, will tasked with the optimization of Target’s inbound and outbound supply-chain processes when he joins the company on July 24, including carrier transportation and last-mile delivery. He’ll also oversee inventory allocation and replenishment, merchandise planning operations and global logistics.

Cook will report to Arthur Valdez, Target’s executive VP and chief supply chain and logistics officer. Noted Valdez, who was appointed earlier this year to rectify longstanding inventory issues: “Our guests expect us to deliver product quickly and reliably, and that means we need a supply chain that’s increasingly fast and precise. Ben’s expertise and proven track record in cutting cost and reducing complexity in the name of speed will be an incredible asset to our team. We believe he’s the right addition to the work we’re doing to strengthen Target’s supply chain so we can offer an even faster and simpler guest experience.”
