Sprint Steps Up Changes With New CMO

Overland Park, Kansas – Sprint tapped Kevin Crull, a 30-year marketing and operations veteran with years of video-content experience, as its new chief marketing officer to aid in the company’s turnaround efforts.

“As the industry shifts towards providing unique experiences and content to wireless customers, Kevin’s exceptional experience will allow him to be a great contributor in Sprint’s transformation journey,” said Marcelo Claure, who became president/CEO last August.

Crull is “charged with attracting new customers and advancing the company’s push for greater innovation,” a Sprint statement added.

Crull starts May 31 and will report to Claure. Crull replaces Jeff Hallock, who spent more than 15 years at Sprint and left the company at the end of April.

Crull most recently served almost five years as COO and then president of Bell Media, Canada’s largest media and broadcasting company.  While there, he developed and launched several “TV Everywhere” digital products as well as CraveTV, an on-demand video streaming service providing premium television content, including HBO and Showtime programming.

Before his tenure at Bell, Crull led consumer and small-business sales and marketing at AT&T Corp., where he was also SVP/GM of AT&T’s wireless initiatives. Crull’s telecommunications experience also includes almost five years as an executive at US West/Qwest Communications.

He also spent nine years at Nestle USA early in his career.
