Lenovo North America Gets New President

Research Triangle Park, N.C. — Lenovo appointed a new president for its North American market following a recent realignment of its business groups and geographic regions.

The new president of Lenovo North America, effective today, is Aymar de Lencquesaing, who was president of Lenovo EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). He joined Lenovo in late 2013 to lead the company’s mobile efforts in EMEA. He was promoted to EMEA president and senior VP of the Lenovo Group in February 2014, when he also joined the Lenovo executive committee.

While he was EMEA president, Lenovo EMEA reached a record high 19.7 percent PC share in the third quarter of last year and achieved a 40 percent year-on-year increase in revenue in the quarter, the company said. The area contributes 29 percent of Lenovo’s worldwide revenues and sells more tablets than any other Lenovo region geography, Lenovo added. He expanded Lenovo’s smartphone business to almost 50 countries in EMEA.

De Lencquesaing, also former CEO of Packard-Bell, spent more than 20 years in the U.S. before joining Lenovo. His 30-year career includes leadership roles with companies in both the U.S. and Europe.

Gianfranco Lanci, Lenovo Group president/COO, said de Lencquesaing was selected “to not only build on our strong foundation but also to deliver the kind of profitable growth and business diversification we have seen in EMEA.”

In another appointment, de Lencquesaing will be replaced in EMEA on May 1 by Eric Cador, named senior VP and president of EMEA. He formally led the PC business for HP in EMEA as senior VP of the personal systems group.

De Lencquesaing and Cador will report directly to Lanci, who was recently promoted to president/COO.
