Haier Beefs Up Majap Team

New York – Haier America has added three new executives to its white-goods management team.

Ex-Mitsubishi manager Gina Copeland was named air quality senior VP, GE vet Paul Riley was tapped to oversee majap sales and marketing, and longtime Whirlpool exec Sanjay Gupta will head product platform development.

In her new role, Copeland will lead Haier’s home comfort business in the Americas, leveraging her strategic background in developing and executing high-growth strategies. She most recently served as senior director, strategy and planning for Mitsubishi Electric’s heating and cooling division.

Riley is tasked with creating and executing Haier’s go-to-market strategy for all majap categories. He spent 15 years with GE Appliances, most recently as senior brand and product line marketing manager, leading the effort to redefine the Monogram brand through consumer rebates, a preferred builder program and a revised distribution strategy.

Conversely, Gupta is charged with developing product roadmaps and a strategic plan for all appliance categories, leveraging his background in planning, product innovation and business development for Whirlpool’s global laundry lines.

Gupta’s appointment follows that of fellow Whirlpool veteran Adrian Micu, a former global engineering VP, who succeeded Shariff Kan as president/CEO of Haier America in January.

The pair joins sales and marketing senior VP Rian Cain, who joined Haier from American TV & Appliances last year.

The company, created by Michael Jemal as a privately-held North American sales and marketing arm of China’s Haier Group, became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the manufacturer a year ago.
