12-Volt Veteran Howard Miller To Retire

Tempe, Ariz. – Twelve-volt industry veteran Howard Miller, who founded Crimestopper in 1980 with wife Sharon, is retiring from the industry.

Crimestopper was acquired by Rockford Corp. in 2014, at which time Miller became a consultant to Rockford. Miller will remain with Rockford until June 30.

Although Crimestopper was founded as an aftermarket car-security supplier, it eventually expanded its product line to include GPS tracking systems and such vehicle-safety products as cameras, monitors, wireless video systems, collision-avoidance and parking-sensor systems, car DVR systems, and tire-pressure monitoring systems.

“Sharon and I started Crimestopper with humble beginnings with quite literally nothing and built it up to one of the most respected brands in the industry over the past four decades,” said Miller. Now, he said, “seeing what Rockford is putting into the business allows me to retire knowing Crimestopper is in good hands.”

Rockford president/CEO Bill Jackson called Miller “a great partner” who “is known as a field intensive guy and a person who has a work ethic that is second to none.” Jackson called Miller “one of those iconic people in the industry that basically everyone knows and everyone likes because of his personality and professionalism.”

“We wish nothing but the best for the Millers and look forward to carrying on their legacy by continuing to build the Crimestopper brand,” Jackson added.
