Tuesday introduced three Lumix digital camera models offering advanced
low-light capability, 3D capture, burst shooting and 1080 video recording in
models DMC-TS3, DMC-ZS10 and DMC-FX78.
The TS3, shipping in March at a price to be announced, is
Panasonic's latest "Tough Series" camera designed for rough outdoor use. It is
waterproof to a depth of 40 feet, shock-resistant to 6.6 feet, and dust- and
It will capture video in full HD 1080i, adds a built-in GPS
function, compass, altimeter and barometer, and offers 12.1-megapixel high-speed
CCD image sensor.
Other features include a new 3D Photo mode, which produces a 3D
photo by taking 20 consecutive photos and overlays the two best to create a 3D
image that can then be played on a Panasonic Viera 3D HDTV.
The format of 3D images is compatible with MPO, and can also be
played back on other MPO-compatible televisions, digital photo frames and
printers, the company said.
An image uploader is added for instant sharing via Facebook (for
digital stills) or YouTube (for videos).
The lens on the TS3 has a 4.6x zoom range starting at a 28mm wide
New Intelligent Resolution technology in the camera enables an Intelligent
Zoom digital extension to a 6x equivalent.
The LCD monitor measures 2.7 inches and has 230,000 dots.
The Lumix FX78 (shipping in March at a price to be announced) includes
an 3.5-inch Smart Touch LCD screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio, allowing for
intuitive touch operation, including Touch AF, Touch Zoom, Touch Shutter and

The camera also adds a Facebook and YouTube uploader, and
includes a 12.1-megapixel high-speed CCD sensor.
Like the TS3, the FX78 will capture 1080i HD video in AVCHD
format and includes Dolby Digital Creator for high quality audio recording.

Intelligent Resolution technology to sharpen fine details and reduce image
The camera's Sonic Speed AF system is 33 percent faster than the
FX75 predecessor and has a quick shutter release time of 0.005 seconds.
In camera editing includes Art Retouch and Beauty Retouch to change
brightness and color saturation of images. The Beauty Retouch mode allows users
to digitally touch-up faces by applying different effects, such as skin
texture, lifting up the face and whitening of teeth.
The Lumix ZS10, meanwhile, includes a built-in GPS system, like
the T3, Smart Touch LCD screen like the FX78 (only measuring 3 inches with
460,000 dots), and adds a Leica-certified 16x optical zoom lens (starting at

Intelligent Resolution technology in the camera can bump up the
zoom power to a 21x equivalent, while the Sonic Speed AF system is 49 percent
faster than the prior ZS7, enabling 10fps burst shooting at a full 14
megapixels or 5fps with continuous AF.
Up to 60 fps bursting shooting is possible at 3.5-megapixel
resolution using the camera's electronic shutter system.
