Center Valley, Pa. - Olympus said Monday it is now selling underwater camera equipment, binoculars and other products through outdoor sporting goods distributor Indian Valley Distribution, based in Harleysville, Pa.

Indian Valley has become a major player in the distribution of underwater imaging systems to dive centers throughout North America.

Olympus said Indian Valley will focus on carrying its underwater cameras and binoculars, considered "niche segments" of Olympus' accessory business.

"It is important for Olympus to identify partners who share our same goals and have the ability to provide our customers with first-class service, support and a distribution network," said John McGuire, Olympus senior marketing manager. "Indian Valley Distribution clearly complies with the stringent criteria we identified to promote our outdoor products effectively and to allow Olympus to move the business forward in this key strategic channel," he added.

The Indian Valley family of companies was established in 2003 with the premise of being "deliberately different."

The company started with the launch of Indian Valley Scuba, which was distinguished for offering a broad multi-agency array of training opportunities, along with carrying a wide range of product lines to offer a "one-stop" shopping experience for customers.

Indian Valley is recognized by PADI as the No. 1 dive center in the Northeastern United States, and was recently honored by the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School as one of the 100 fastest growing Philadelphia-area corporations for the past two years.

"Indian Valley Distribution is truly honored to have been selected by Olympus as a North American distributor of their underwater imaging systems," said Sue Douglass, founding partner & CFO. "The brand perfectly complements our existing profile of high-quality products for the discerning photographer and will be available to customers through our established dealer network."

"We believe Olympus offers the best equipment to capture memorable moments for scuba divers, water sports enthusiasts, and outdoor adventure and sports participants everywhere. This important selection helps solidify the growth of the distribution arm of our business and furthers the Indian Valley sphere of influence throughout the industry," she added.

Indian Valley Distribution said it will be contacting old and new Olympus customers about new product opportunities.
