Portland, Ore. - Fred Meyer Stores will become the latest retailer to sell Barnes & Noble Nook e-readers when the 132-store chain adds the products to its e-reader selection on July 30.

The announcement follows an announcement by OfficeMax that it is expanding its e-reader selection with the July 30 availability of the Nook e-readers.

Both retailers will offer Barnes & Noble's $139 Simple Touch Reader and $249 Nook Color Reader.

The four-state Fred Meyer chain began offering e-readers at the end of 2009, starting with Pandigital and Sony models. The chain added tablets this year, offering the iPad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab and Acer Iconia.

The chain also offers TracFone prepaid cellular phones.
