Atlanta - Niles will head to the CEDIA Expo here to upgrade its Directed Soundfield (DS) and step-up ICS series of in-ceiling speakers with narrow-bezel, low-profile, magnetically attached grilles to look as unobtrusive as possible.

To the ICS series, the brand is also adding integrated custom-tuned Rear Wave Control (RWC) enclosures to deliver predictable audio performance and reduce unwanted sound from entering adjacent rooms. On the DS series, the enclosures are available for the first time as an option.

Each speaker in both series are said to feature a unique shape to fit easily through a cut out to simplify installation, particularly in retrofit applications. The speakers also include a new spring-tensioned mounting clamp system said to be unaffected by heat and high humidity, giving installer the flexibility to mount the speakers in a variety of areas. The grilles are also rust-resistant, making them suitable for placement in moisture-prone areas such as saunas, bathrooms and under outdoor eaves.

Like before, the two-way speakers in both series feature a woofer and tweeter that pivot together and independently up to 15 degrees in any direction. The three-way models feature woofer, midrange and tweeter that pivot.

The ICS speakers are part of the Niles IntelliControl ICS line, which is exclusive to select pre-authorized dealers.
