Yanks Go To Bat For Joe Torre Charity

Ridgefield Park, N.J. — The New York Yankees will help in the fight against domestic violence every time the players go to bat at Yankee Stadium this year, thanks to a fund-raising program sponsored by Samsung’s Four Seasons of Hope and Circuit City.

Through the Circuit City-Samsung Electronics Home Run For Kids program, Circuit City will donate $1,000 to the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation each time a New York Yankees player hits a home run at Yankee Stadium during the 2004 regular season.

Founded by Yankee manager Joe Torre in 2002, the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation is dedicated to developing educational programs to help end the cycle of domestic violence and save lives.

The Circuit City-Samsung Electronics Home Run For Kids program is part of Samsung’s Four Seasons of Hope. That is the now-famous year-round national goodwill program that brings together four famous athletes and their charities. They are golf’s Arnold Palmer and the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Women and Children; football’s Boomer Esiason and the Boomer Esiason Foundation; basketball’s Magic Johnson and the Magic Johnson Foundation; and Torre. Rock star Jon Bon Jovi has also joined Samsung’s Four Seasons of Hope as the official musician.

Fans can follow the Circuit City-Samsung Electronics Home Run For Kids throughout the season on the YES Network, where home runs scored and money pledged will be tallied during each game broadcast. The Circuit City-Samsung Electronics Home Run For Kids count will culminate in a check presentation at the end of the season when Torre, Samsung and Circuit City announce the money raised during the season.

In addition to Home Run For Kids, Samsung, Circuit City and Torre are also teaming in a national retail promotion that benefits his Safe At Home Foundation. The promotion gives consumers a chance to win a trip to join Joe at baseball’s All-Star game in Houston.

From April 4 to May 1, when consumers purchase Samsung products at Circuit City Superstores nationwide, Samsung and Circuit City will donate money to the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation. Consumers can also go to www.circuitcity.com to enter a special sweepstakes to win the trip to Houston, Torre-autographed baseballs and Samsung products.
