Yamaha Adds Universal BD Player

Buena Park, Calif. — Yamaha Electronics introduced Monday its
first “universal” Blu-ray Disc player featuring the ability to stream online video
services, including content from NetFlix, Blockbuster and YouTube.

The BD-A1000 (shipping now at a $700 suggested retail) also
includes dual USB (front/rear) inputs for a wide array of audio and video
sources.

Yamaha pointed out that the player is designed to offer “maximum
operating convenience” when used with one of Yamaha’s Aventage A/V receivers.

For example, pressing the Scene BD/DVD button on a current Yamaha
A/V receiver remote control will turn on the power to the receiver and the
BD-A1000, and begin disc playback.

Key features include FullHD audio decoding, 1080p/24Hz-compatible
HDMI output and 7.1 multichannel analog output with four two-channel DACs.

The player has disc and USB multimedia format compatibility for
AVCHD, WMV, JPEG (HD), MP3 and WMA.

Additional features include an RC-232C integration control, onscreen
display GUI, dual USB ports for video, music and photos playback, and
detachable power cable.

The BD-A1000 also integrates with home-automation solutions and
is also Control4-certified, Yamaha said.

 “Home-theater enthusiasts
are demanding versatile content compatibility, and Yamaha offers the most
versatile entertainment options,” said Tom Sumner, Yamaha Electronics
president. “The new Yamaha Aventage BD-A1000 highly enhances the visual and
audio experience and is the ideal match for Yamaha’s Aventage series of A/V
receivers.”
