Yamaha Adds AM/FM/CD iPod-Audio System

Buena Park, Calif. –

Yamaha

is adding to its
line of single-chassis iPod/iPhone-docking desktop audio systems with the first
model in the series to incorporate CD player.

The series, whose models are
priced from a suggested $169 to $449, adds the $399 TSX-140, which features
AM/FM tuner, USB port to play back MP3 and WMA files stored on a USB stick, two
3.5-inch ported bass-reflex speakers, and alarm clock functions. It’s available
in black, brick and gray.

Other features include
proprietary Extended Stereo DSP to widen the sound stage, USB mini-B connector
to sync a docked device with a PC, and a brightness sensor to automatically
adjust all display LEDs to the room’s ambient light level.

The unit’s IntelliAlarm function
is said to wake users gently to the sounds of an audio source by initially filtering
out uncomfortable high frequencies, then gradually restoring the full audio response
before starting to beep.

The unit comes with illuminated
buttons on the top panel and three front panel controls for source, volume,
radio presets, alarm clock and equalizer functions.
